Importing Japanese Wagyu into Vietnam.
Japanese beef is eligible for the Vietnamese market, from establishments registered for export to Vietnam. A restriction applies to offal — see the scope note below. These are the conditions we work to, confirmed per shipment.
- Eligibility
- Japanese beef is permitted into Vietnam when produced at an establishment registered for export to Vietnam, chilled or frozen. Offal is limited — see the scope note below.
- Documents
- Japan's meat sanitary certificate and AQS export quarantine certificate, with the inspection results the destination authority requires. The set is confirmed per shipment.
- Facility
- Slaughter and processing run through establishments registered for export to Vietnam. Registration is specific to the facility, so we confirm it per shipment.
- Tariff
- Beef is dutiable, with preferential treatment available under the ASEAN–Japan agreement where the origin requirements are met. Rates differ between chilled and frozen. We confirm the current treatment per shipment.
- Chilled / frozen
- Both supported; chilled at 0–4°C, frozen at −18°C or below, unbroken to the destination.
- Clearance
- Animal quarantine and document checks on arrival, handled with the agriculture and health authorities. Release follows the inspection outcome.
About these conditions
This is general guidance, not a guarantee. Import eligibility, documents, tariff treatment and clearance times change — we confirm the current requirements for your market on each shipment, and source to order. Nothing here implies stock held in your market.
Scope
Vietnam admits muscle cuts together with a limited set of organs — heart, liver and kidney. Other offal is outside the current scope. If your requirement includes offal, tell us which items and we will confirm what is workable before proposing anything.
